1.  Hey, what's this I hear about a movie based on Hokie Fans?

As graduates of Virginia Tech, fans of Hokie sports and residents of the New River Valley, we (i.e. the producers/directors) know what life is like here . . . especially in the fall.  This film is about the fans--why we are different, why we are special, why we spend all that time, energy and money to be there on a crisp Saturday afternoon in the fall to cheer on the Hokies.  The Hokie Nation is quickly becoming the Hokie Planet and we want the world to understand how unique, inventive, inspired and loyal we are.

More than that, this movie shows the passion and camaraderie among Hokie fans, and is often the subject of case study writing assignments. You can delve into the psyche of these devoted individuals, exploring their motivations, rituals, and unwavering support for their favorite team. By examining the Hokie Nation through a holistic lens, we can provide valuable information and analysis that can be used for academic purposes and beyond. By presenting this film as a case study, we contribute to the academic discourse around fan behavior and engagement. To our knowledge this is the first film ever about college football fans themselves and we are proud to tell the story.  Let's face it--we know we are great fans . . . it is time for the whole world to know it too!

2.  So what is this film going to be about?  It is a documentary, right?

That's right, it's a documentary.  We will be following a few groups of fans throughout the 2006 season and capturing the excitement of Hokie fever as it happens.  But it is more than just the story of a few fans and season.  We are chronicling life as we know it, in orange and Chicago maroon.  We are looking at the history of Tech fans from the days of Miles stadium to today.  We'll be showing how area businesses love fans and fans run Hokie businesses.  We'll take you inside Lane Stadium for the excitement in the stands and talk to former players about what it is like to play there.  We'll show you the proud, diverse and fascinating Hokie Nation and why this little corner of the world is the best place to be on game day!

3.  So do you have permission from Tech to do all this?

We are working in cooperation with the Athletic Department and VT Licensing to bring you the best possible film we can.  We have been working with other Tech officials and groups like University Relations, the Corps of Cadets, and the Marching Virginians, as well as the Alumni Association and Hokie Hospitality as well.  There are other groups we are working with too and we should be able to make a few exciting announcements very soon.

4.  So who is going to be in this film?

YOU!

Okay, you need more than that . . . we will have fans from all walks of life in our film and we are still looking for great stories, Hokie creations and Hokie businesses.  We are also interviewing former players about the great fans we have here--if you are thinking of big names, so are we!  And we will be talking to people from every aspect of Hokie culture, from life long fans and Golden Hokies to the youngest like Hokies.  We'll have video from Hokie Clubs across the country as well, so get ready for a great ride in 06-07! 

5.  Can I be in this film?

We want real people, so contact us at if you have some ideas or stories to share.  We cannot guarantee you will be in the film and there is no financial compensation, but we have our eyes and ears open if you want to be part of a unique and fascinating film project.

6.  When will the film be out? 

We are hoping for a limited movie theater release and DVD sales as early as April, 2007 (Spring Game!)  It may be later, but we expect you can get a copy before the 07 season.

7.  Where will the DVD be sold? 

This will be an officially licensed product, so you can expect to see it sold through VA Tech's bookstores, as well as national outlets like Amazon.com and directly from this site via Paypal.  But, that is a way down the road yet.
