Hokie House

Is it heaven or just the Hokie house of your dreams?  Well, Jean and Richard Quible have turned Hokie decorating into an art and invited us . . . and consequently, YOU . . . to come see it.  Check it out here.

The Art of Being a Hokie Fan!

"Hi--my name is Tim and I'm a HUGE Hokie fan, and I get painted up full body for every game (I attached a picture from me last year).  I actually spent all summer designing paint schemes for every home game this season, all very elaborate. I wake up at 8 am every game day to tailgate and I even went to the Maryland game last year and sat in the student section painted up in maroon and orange to show my support.  I alos went to every home game last year and two away games, and I plan to do more than that this year.  I waited 243 days for this season minus going to the spring game, and I bleed maroon and orange."

Hokie Heart

April S. is a self described Hokie "Addict," and we have to agree.  Last year, immediately after being released from Duke University Hospital from major open heart surgery, April was determined to get to the Duke game.

Well, April can tell the story better than we can, so check it out here.

Do-It-Yourself Hokie Helmet!

This is Marcus on game day.  He sent us the following explanation:

"Hey!  I am currently entering my junior year at Tech and I am a huge Hokie fan.

One of my friends presented me with an awesome idea and if you saw one of the Game Days at Tech last year, you probably saw me.  I did this for the GT game, the Miami game and the ACC Championship.

I would love to be in your movie because I plan to paint up before every game this year!

Fightin' Gobbler!

Did you know you can get Hokie football in Iraq?  Well, you can if you are an army captain with a lot of drive!

Meet Capt. Ernie Ambrose, our third Tech Mega Fan, who found a way to catch the big games during R&R!  You can read more about Capt. Ambrose's devotion to the country and The Hokie Nation here.

Ever wonder how Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones got the nickname, "The Untouchables?"

Jeremy, class of '02 and Diehard Hokie, explains:

"I actually won the contest to name Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones “The Untouchables.”  It was a very memorable day for me.  I called everybody . . . and I mean EVERYBODY, I knew.  Then, I got to meet the guys and take pics with them and have them sign the pictures and a football for me.  I remember being wowed at the fact that Kevin Jones’s forearm was wider than my head!!  And the pics prove it!"

Hokie Nathan!

Here's our second official Mega Fan.  He may be small, but he has a lot of Hokie Heart!  Meet the littlest Hokie fan, Nathan . . . or as we like to refer to him, HOKIE NATHAN.

His mother was kind enough to let us know what a great Hokie fan Nathan is.  He has season tickets to football and basketball games, and his third word (after mama and dada) was . . . well, you can read about it here.

Homemade Hokie Mobile:

When you're crazy about the Hokies, you gotta ride with pride.  Douglas M. decided he wanted a VT car on a student's budget so he bought this 92 Mercury Grand Marquis and some spray paint and went to work.  We are also informed that Douglas wears a VT wrestling singlet (in other words, one of those skinny wrestling uniforms) to games to show his Hokie devotion--even in November!  Thanks for the picture Doug.

The Darkstar

Buck Cox shows off his tailgate machine, the Darkstar Hokie Bar and Grill.  Built entirely from the ground up with VT engineering know-how, the Darkstar features a gas grill, stainless steel serving tops, interior storage area, three beverage taps, four seats, a AM/FM CD player and satellite TV hookups so Buck can see what Lee Corso is saying while he's flipping burgers out in the parking lot!

Night Vision by Kate H.

Kate H. is the first volunteer in what we hope will be a series of fan mini pages.  There's no doubt in our minds that Kate is a diehard Hokie fan.  She fell in love with VT as a teenager and didn't even apply anywhere else.  A member of several student organizations and one of the campus tour guides, Kate made the most of her four years at VT.

Kate H. sent us this great description of a night in Lane Stadium . . .

These guys are right on the ball!  They know a good thing when they see it and sent us a link to their site and info on their own online cookbook!  They've been featured in the Roanoke Times and are planning a great season.  First class tailgaters?  No doubt!

They have a pair of veteran pooches in their crew and invite EVERYBODY, Hokie fan and visitors to stop by their spot at RV Lot 17.

Thanks guys!  We're stoppin' by this season for some London Broil and Gumbo.  (Guess that diet will have to wait until February . . . again.)
