Zoggs | Introducing Ecolast™: From Waste To Wear

December 8, 2019

Healthy Seas in as an environmental initiative which is focusing on the recovery of fishing nets We do it from two directions… One is organising sea clean-ups with the help of divers And the other one is prevention… We work with Fishermen and the Fishing Industry on land where they collect their waste nets From these two sources and thanks to Aquafil and the ECONYL® regeneration system These fishing nets can get a new life and can be turned into beautiful new products Aquafil is one of the founders of the Healthy Seas initiative We are able to regenerate those fishing nets, those ghost nets, into brand new ECONYL® Nylon Yarn Which is then used to make beautiful products which are 100% sustainable With ECONYL® there is no boundaries between sustainability and beauty Ecolast™ is our first sustainable fabric It’s 78% regenerated Nylon waste, 22% XTRA LIFE™ LYCRA® The 78% Nylon waste is from recycled carpets and industrial waste that’s normally put into landfill And the rest is from abandoned fishing nets taken out of the ocean So Zoggs has made a very committed decision to have sustainable fabrics in our range And the Ecolast™ is the first fabric in our program It’s a beautiful fabric, we’ve wearer trialled it over 700 hours of pool testing And some people have said, it’s the best fabric they’ve ever worn
