The Best Header For Your BRZ FRS or 86

November 1, 2019

what’s up everybody my name is Justin
welcome back to our Pit Lane Garage I have an exciting video for you today
I’ve been waiting to get this one done for a little while now we’re starting
out phase two of the off season BRZ upgrades and that is power upgrades
we’re going to get started and show you what we got on the bench alright before
we get started with the unboxing of the new product here kind of let you know
how we got to this point of phase two of our power upgrades for the BRZ so if you
remember I’ve been using the same unequal length header that I had on my
FRS and my BRZ it was the Revworks unequal length header I bought it used
for like $400 bucks when I was building the FRS it was kind of meant to be a
budget build up for the race car so I didn’t quite go all out with parts in
certain areas like the exhaust and the header but for this go-round much like
we went big with the suspension with MCS we reached out to the pros at
CounterSpace Garage and worked with them to get their feedback on what the best
upgrade path would be from a power perspective for the BRZ now CSG has done extensive testing with different headers on the BRZ FRS and 86 so we drew from
that experience to get the best possible combination for a header upgrade for my
BRZ and that turns out to be the ACE equal length header coupled with an ACE
header specific tune from Delicious tuning this specific setup with the
Delicious tune and the ACE header by CSG’s testing has proven to make gains
throughout the rev range and we’re hoping with the BRZ we make power both
down low in the mid-range as well as at the peak level and of course you guys
know me I like to test things as well we’ll dyno tune this thing once we get it
all set up and see exactly how much power it makes over the current setup
that we have on the car today so no more talk let’s go ahead and get
up on the bench here and get this thing unboxed all right now that everything is out
let’s show you what we have in the box of course we have the ACE header itself now the entire header inside and out has
been coated with high temp ceramic based coating just like I did on my other
header as well this is the CSG special the result is you have less heat in your
engine bay all the heat stays inside of the header
itself increasing exhaust flow and overall better performance and lower
heat again inside the engine bay we also have the merge collector piece this is a
two pipes into one which will connect to my high flow cat pipe the cool thing
about this header is it actually eliminates any over pipe that you might
have so I have the parent over pipe on the car now the way the ACE header is
designed it’s for pipes into two pipes and then the two pipe collector goes
down into one pipe so it’s a 4-2-1 style equal length header by using their
own over pipe or a merge collector piece they can improve the performance even
more versus some random aftermarket over pipe that might not match the specific
design of the ACE header and of course the last piece of the kits is a new set
of gaskets a set of nuts and bolts to connect our merge collector to the
header and a pair of bolts to connect to the existing high flow catfight that we
have in the car today now the ACE header is considered one of
the best headers on the market for your BRZ FRS or 86 it is also one of the most
expensive headers on the market but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay
for and it shows on the ACE header in the construction as the welds are very
nice the bends are very nice and overall just excellent craftsmanship the ACE
A-350 header has also been tested extensively and proven to show
excellent power gains throughout the rev-range coupling this with the delicious
specific tune I am hoping to get the most power out of my BRZ yet last but not least we are of course going to weigh this thing my current Revworks unequal length header weighs in at about 12lbs
we’re gonna throw this one on the scale here and see what it comes in as nine point six pounds and nine point six
pounds again so this thing is actually a few pounds lighter than the RevWorks
header that I have in the car as well so that is bonus good news all right
everybody we’re going to go ahead and wrap this one up we have the ACE header
in the house for the BRZ we’re probably going to get it installed here over the
holiday break maybe first couple weeks of January just have to see how the
schedule goes and of course we’ll get it up on the dyno see what kind of power it
makes and compare it to what the car makes over the current setup so thanks
again everybody for watching if you have any thoughts or comments please leave
them down below don’t forget to check out our friends at CounterSpace Garage stay fast out there and we’ll talk to you all next time

    Hey Justin
I take it you did not like any of the exhaust pieces from
Can't wait to see how your headers work.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Shelby and the rest of your family.

Pretty much decided to order a 2018 BRZ at the end of February for a Spring delivery, and been watching as many videos as I can. Your channel has been a really great source of info regarding an upgrade path I might want to take inspiration from, so I just want to say thanks for that.

I'll be curious to see how these headers work out for you, as up until this video most people I've seen choose to go with UEL headers to get not only the Subie rumble, but to really help eliminate the torque dip that's inherent in these cars. Be really interesting to see how these EL headers perform in your set-up.

What's the difference between the 350 250 and the 150 and also the club sport 400 collectors on the headers which one would be best for the car thinking of getting one now thanks

with your experience with the 86 platform, should really give a try on the ts version too if you got time.

Hello Justin, may I please ask if you're running any oil catch can in your BRZ at all? Thank you.

Chompin at the bit and anxiously awaiting updates on the ace 350 and tune…

  • Reply Vignesh N.Y January 6, 2018 at 8:17 am

Thanks for the video Justin. In the UK , ACE seems to get the best review too but is not very popular due to price and lack of UEL. Very curious as to how much of a difference EL makes and the brand choice itself makes. When is the dyno run coming?

  • Reply Havnar January 22, 2018 at 5:39 pm

still waiting anxiously for the results :s

  • Reply Filip Craciun January 23, 2018 at 8:59 pm

best header on the market by far…so much development by ACE and CSG

Can't wait to hear about the results..your verdict will determine my ACE purchase lol….why 350 and not 400? You my hero brother keep up the good vids!!
