Hello, what’s up? Welcome to a new video on my Youtube channel. I know many of you have asked for this new section and this is the first video of the series. In here, we will be breaking down the sound of famous songs. Many of you have asked me in the comments about how I get my guitar sound. Well, if this video gets 20K views in a month, the next video will be about… …my guitar settings and how you can get the same sound as me. But before anything else, don’t forget to like, subscribe and share this video with your friends. In Doja Cat’s “Say So”, the main sound that is highlighted is the “vintage” guitar sound. It’s a sound reminiscent of the 70’s and 80’s decade, emulating the vinyl texture. We are going to emulate this sound with a plug-in called “RC-20 Retro Color”. We have to start by having it installed in our DAW (in my case, Cubase Elements) From a very clean guitar sound and with the “Chorus” effect. Once we have these effects, let’s put in the “RC-20 Retro Color” plug-in. As you can see, the interface looks easy. First we see the “Noise” knob. We’re going to turn it down to 4%. 5% is alright, as it should not get much noise in the final sound. Then, we see the “Wobble” knob. We’ll leave it at 15% or 16%. After, we are going to give a “tube amp” sound with a little bit a Distortion to imitate that old-school sound. We’ll leave the “Distorsion” knob at 57% or 58% to make it more similar to the song. The preset will be “Vinyl 1”, it comes first on the plug-in by default and it is the better sounding and more similar to the Doja Cat song. Later, we’re going to add the “Digital Wave” knob. We’ll leave this at 4%. See? Around 4% or 5%. This will make the guitar sound more similar to the Doja track too. And finally, we’re going to cut off the frequency and we’ll leave it between 227 and 2600 hertzs, moreless. As it is ready, it’s going to sound very, very similar to the original song by Doja Cat. Very well, guys. So we have the plug-in set and ready, next step will be playing the guitar with our sound and you’ll see that it sounds almost identical.
