My name is Gabriel aka Mimic Boy
I’m a Professional Street Performer. Alright, so the topic for me is ‘Purpose’. Since I was young I’ve been doing,
I wouldn’t say doing shows but I’ve been entertaining.
I’ve always been that guy who imitates, takes the piss, does pranks
and all that kind of stuff. and then I got to London and I started
doing other jobs. I’ve worked in banks, property and all this
kind of stuff but I did not really enjoy it.
I saw no growth. Okay I was making money but it’s not about
making money, it’s about how you can be of service to people and how you can grow
and improve yourself and then I found out that my service to people
is giving laughter, making people happy. Why I say facing fear with positive belief
is because of an issue I have with my eyes and that just started recently.
The vision is not as clear, blurry you know. So I don’t see far and in my shows before
I needed to see people their facial expressions and what they do
so I can imitate and see if they’re in a positive mind frame to use.
So ever since I’ve had this eye issue I’ve been thinking
is it a good idea, what’s gonna happen but then I thought to myself I don’t know
what’s gonna happen until I go and perform. Then I started performing and to be honest,
to be fair the performances been actually better
because I’m not conscious of what people think.
I just go and enjoy the moment, I live in the now.
I do my shows, people love it. They enjoy it.
They come and say wow you’ve done a good job
so I’m not really stressed about am I gonna see people
can I see their facial expressions are they gonna be happy.
I forget all that stuff and go for what I wanna do.
Express myself and be positive about it. If my eyesight is getting more messed up,
I’m just gonna continue doing what I do because it’s all in the mindset.
You might have a big crowd and make no money. You might have a small crowd and make money.
So the key is don’t worry about the size of the crowd, just perform at your best at
every time. I enjoy the streets.
The life of a street performer in that sense, it’s interesting, different, not knowing
what’s gonna happen but facing that moment. Not knowing if it’s going to rain, if the
suns gonna shine, but seeing at the end of the show people coming up to me and saying
wow it’s beautiful, I really enjoyed myself or people say I’ve had a bad day but watching
you made me happy and that’s it, seeing people smile, seeing
people happy. Knowing that I have the power to do this to
people, that’s key for me. Nobody has one single purpose
it’s growth. Just grow gradually you know.
