Have you ever heard of natural harmonics ? and how about artifical harmonics? Natural harmonics are the sounds produced when you touch your finger on the 12th fret and play the open string It can also be produced at the 7th fret and on the 5th fret Notice that the finger must touch the string on top of the fret and not behind notice the difference Behind the fret on the fret The natural harmonics has 3 sounds we can produce 1) The sound of the note of the string 2) The sound an octave higher , okay? 3) and a fifth higher of the sound of the note that you are producing So here on the first string (that is an E) You can produce an E in the 12th fret You can produce an E one octave higher on the 5th fret and can produce a B which is the fifth of the E on the 7th fret E B And E one octave higher If you play in the second string its: B F# And B one octave higher The sounds produced on the 7th and 5th fret , can also be produced at the end of arm The sound of the 7th fret you can produce on the 19th fret listen its the same sound And the 5th fret you can produce approximately in the middle of the soundhole here okay? Another way to perform the harmonics its only with the right hand without the left hand With the right hand works like this: with your index finger you will touch the string and with the thumb or the middle finger you will play the string then it looks like this: with the middle finger and using the thumb: or on the 19th fret These were the natural harmonics, now the artificial follow the same logic But you will not use open string, you will have to use your left hand to hold the note you want So the logic is : if with the open string the 12th fret produced sound Now when you touch on the first house You’ll have to imagine that the fret advances one step too So if the open string was on the 12th fret… Now playing in the 1st fret the harmonic moves to the 13th fret and so on : 2nd fret… move on 3rd fret… move on 4th fret You can play anywhere… Understand? And you can play chords, for example C: I will imagine the structure of the C Following the rule of the 12th fret
adapting to each… fret that I use with my left hand C (chord) for example D So to exercise I suggest that old cromatic exercise but using harmonics That’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed the class! See you!
Hello guys! in today’s video I want to teach the basic principles of how to make a fingerstyle guitar arrangement. The music I want to use as an example is Honor Him, from Gladiator, which is this song here: So the first thing you need to know is the melody and the harmony of the music. There are more complex songs that have multiple melodies, counterpoint, and bass line, but to start we will work only on the melody and harmony, which is how I like to start. How do I learn it? I look for the original score for orchestra, if I don´t find I look for any piano transcription which has much available material for piano, or I try to learn by ear, but some songs can be hard to be learned by ear. Then, so it’s easier for me to know where is the melody and harmony. Following below we have the score. The melody: First I analyze if the melody is in a comfortable place of the guitar. In principle this melody seems to be, but I think it will sound better if instead of playing in F#m, which is the tone of this theme… I think it will sound better in Am. Because I’ll have more “room” to work and because if the melody goes to a lower pitch… (Do not get confused, remember that my guitar has seven strings, as you may already know. Forget this string and imagine that is a 6-string guitar) So as I was saying, if the melody goes to lower pitch it will be difficult to do the chord at the same time so I get no room Usually we do the chord. And play the melody on the treble strings. So that’s why it’s important to think about what is the ideal region for you to make this arrangement. I think it will be better in Am. So I’ll have to transcribe the tone. How I transcribe? this is a matter for another class, I suggest you look for in google or youtube, which is a subject easy to find. Because in this video I want to concentrate on the guitaristic arrangement process. So we will work in Am. And that´s easy. I’ve prepared the score down here the melody, harmony… and the bass line So how it works? it’s easy, I play the chord and play the melody on the end (head) of the chord. This first chord is an Am… One important thing is to know how to play the chords in other places of the guitar neck. So if the melody is: It is not easy to play the chord here … I better play Am here. And it gets even better if you don´t play the full chord, but only the high notes. So… This is the C / G. Am Dm/F This is the Dm The F is here and this is the note of the melody Dm… with the bass here (remember that my guitar has 7 strings) Again, following the melody… The melody is usually already present in the chord This is the big deal… If you build the chord in the right place, the melody notes are already present in the chord So, listen this: Am Dm I walked with the melody G Recognize the G? Am G F All these notes are in the chords So in fact it’s just you build the chord in the right place and the note will be in the chord. This F… the melody is here in my middle finger. This A (note). Understand? Then comes another question. What kind of fingering you will do? This is a particular issue for each song. I was doing before only the chord and melody, right? So now I have to create a fingering… I could do: But I think what will sound better if you
gently play the remaining notes of the chord. Filling with the chord. OK? Understand? Continuing … the melody returns to: But this time playing an F How do I do this F? Look… Do you know this chord? the F can also be done here “The guitar is out of tune …” but … continuing … Look, I’m following the chords that are down here. You need to rack your brain to build these chords and guide your self by the melody of the song Em I’ll leave a link with the melody and the harmony of this music And then you can create your own arrangement, okay? I hope you have enjoyed, even though a simple lesson, but I think it is a first step for those who are curious to make their own arrangements and follow this path. I hope you enjoyed and please leave suggestions for lessons and if you want to go deeper in this matter also let me know. Good luck and if you have any questions contact me. See you!

We used to play … the traditional Funk was like this: but we played like this: – much better… Yes! I remmember – We can do this…
– Let´s try? Oh yes!
Hello, guys! First of all, I’d like to introduce you to a course which is the fruit of years of research in motor coordination my course: “Play better guitar through the use of Science”. You’ll find the link here below, in the description. This is an extremely interesting subject for guitar and electric guitar players of all levels and styles And what do you learn in this course? I have put together a series of scientific knowledge on the subjects of learning and the training of motor skills This information comes from vast research with athletes and I applied it specifically to the study of the guitar In this way we ensure a much faster evolution in the technical training of this instrument Now let’s move to the actual topic of this video: Can
Weight Training be somehow harmful to musicians? Some musicians are afraid that
Weight Training might cause injuries others are afraid that workout might have for an effect to tighten their joints and limit their movements Well, first we have to understand what the
Weight Training does to our body. It strengthens not only the muscles but also the tendons, ligaments and bones in this way we can predict what will happen to our body according to the different loads of training we apply moderate workouts are extremely safe Weight Training is actually one of the safest sports there is, if we look at the statistics on sport related injuries and one thing we have to note is that
Weight Training generate a slight muscle fatigue but it does not get in the way of your guitar training and I say that from my own experience You can do your
Weight Training, arrive home and start a study session of your instrument this muscular expenditure will not compete between these two types of training Now, of course for those who do a more intense training then it would be good to rest the muscles for at least one hour after such trainings before starting the training of your instrument Now, the more intense the workout, indeed the injuries statistics might actually increase injuries caused by the
Weight Training, muscle injuries. Even so,
Weight Training remain an extremely safe sport, and don’t forget: musicians are already subject to repetitive strain injuries, for instance – tendinitis and
Weight Training have a protective effect because, as I have said, you strengthen tendons and strengthen muscles so these tendons are much better prepared for work loads if you are someone who is physically active, who trains So moderate and intense training for amateurs will not cause any problems in fact it has a beneficial effect on your health and protection Now, amateur athletes, who train very hard, professional athletes or even weightlifters and bodybuilders they will be subject to several injuries, because those are really intense trainings as to the issue of fatigue, needless to say that these athletes are extremely fatigued after a training session hence it is really difficult for him to be able to study the instrument for long periods, of course obviously it all depends on the level you want to achieve, if you want to be a concert musician who practices your instrument four hours a day or longer then it is indeed hard for you to have the energy for all this activity Another problem is the increase in muscle mass which will indeed make you a little slower and will get in the way of your movements You might have already noticed that bodybuilders have that problem of not being able to scratch their back because of their huge muscle mass It is very likely that the muscle mass in their hands and forearm becomes so massive that it gets in the way of the agility they could have otherwise So, by and large, as in most sports if you workout moderately, there will be no problem at all and keep in mind that workout is an extremely safe sport and it will only help you Finally, I hope this has been a nice tip for you Remember to check the link which I’ve mentioned in the introduction And please leave your comments, so that I know if this series of videos in which I combine my knowledge on Science, health and the human body combining with the topic of guitar playing topics which are very pertinent but are nevertheless quite rare out there If you’re enjoying it, please let me know and leave your comments with further questions and suggestions for future videos, ok guys?! See you, bye!
Hi guys, how are you? So… I love the master Yoda´s theme because I think John Williams was able to create an atmosphere of peace and mystery simultaneously when he was composing this music. So I made a very sentimental arrangement and I hope you like it and remember to Like and share this video with your friends
