wtf? you're phrasing the lengths of the notes ultimately wrong

  • Reply Martin Kostrhoun September 18, 2012 at 5:15 am

im not saying that page does not change the solo from time to time .. im saying that the phrasing is wrong and it sounds very wrong and does not fit the song and sounds like the player does not know how to count not saying he should play it strictly according to album version ..

  • Reply bashfulbrother January 4, 2013 at 11:06 am

I think that a lot of times they don't understand a band as an artistic unit. The crap on radio today is sterile at best. No feeling. Zep always from day 1 made it a mission to make their music touch the heart.

  • Reply Sharlo Zack January 12, 2013 at 2:20 pm

if even he is not able to play it properly it show how much soul and heart do you need over the vast talent possesed to play this solo. sry bobbby for the comment but cant resist.

  • Reply Andrea Dalerci January 18, 2013 at 8:54 pm

Your bending is not clean… and definitely no rhythm. The solo is long exactly as the original but seems played more fast, i don't know why…

  • Reply Matt Blake March 12, 2013 at 12:22 am

its hard to play this solo because jimmy page does alot of improvising

  • Reply GUMBY1942 March 14, 2013 at 3:50 pm

  • Reply y00no March 17, 2013 at 2:46 pm

You know what would be cool, Bobby, and it would put you on top of this whole business. It's if as you do the slow, "second fret, third string, bla, bla" instead if you could just have a little highlight on the number on the tabs that moves along with your play. I don't know how to do it right now, but it seems like it could be done. Your videos would be better than the new style of no narration and better than this monotonous drone (sorry). You would be king of the world!

  • Reply superbuds0714 March 26, 2013 at 1:50 am

And you should write your comments on a piece of paper before you type them out. *practice *teaching

  • Reply terry wheeler April 7, 2013 at 8:31 pm

if you listen closely to the recording, it sounds like there is a muted note, maybe the snd string 5 th fret micro note….. what are your thoughts. as always the recording is never the same played the same ever again, live, so good covers are all one can ask for, and bobby sure does good at that.

  • Reply chrisplays August 25, 2013 at 4:44 am

Lmao… what rhythm are these people looking for? He is giving everyone the notes for the solo, YOU go figure out the rhythm yourself. How far do i bend the notes? Really? There is an answer in music theory, but bend it until it sounds the way it should.

Thanks BC for these great lessons. Despite what some may think executing this solo as fluidly as Page takes quite a bit of work, and I have rarely seen anyone play it at Page's level.

  • Reply weir cali March 27, 2014 at 12:22 pm

Regarding your plea for a cessation to the negative comments:  You are SILLY.  You can't post a video that claims to teach the viewer how to play a solo, and then say that you are showing how YOU play the solo, not how the solo is played on the recording.  That is like posting a video about how to make cookies but then making a ham sandwich.  If you cannot play it, how do you have the balls to try to teach it?

  • Reply weir cali March 27, 2014 at 12:23 pm

So stop whining and don't try to "teach" something you have yet to learn yourself.

  • Reply Ugh April 9, 2014 at 4:39 pm

As for his version being "wrong", "off time" etc. Have any of you ever heard Jimmy Page play this live? Lord have mercy did Page suck all 3 times I saw Zep play.

Dude! YOU NEED TO STOP TEACHING PEOPLE THE WRONG WAY TO PLAY ALL OF THESE SONGS THAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY! Every tutorial I've seen of yours is STRAIGHT UP WRONG! It's okay if you want to try to fool & impress your friends and family that you know how to play, but don't be putting instructional videos on youtube and showing the public how to play a song the wrong way. these people are green, they're just learning and they think you know what you're doing and you're teaching them how to play it WRONG! YOU NEED TO STOP! SERIOUSLY NEED TO STOP!!!

  • Reply JP Guthrie February 21, 2018 at 6:20 am

Good lesson. For those who think the lesson isn't exactly the same as on the album, it doesn't matter. I've seen Jimmy Page play this solo at few shows, and he has never played it the same way twice. I am not Jimmy Page, neither is BC, nor are any of you, and even if you know how to play it note-for-note, exactly as it is played on the album, you are not going to sound like Jimmy Page. This lesson is good enough to get you in the ballpark, and if you learn the solo from this lesson, you can make whatever changes you need to if you want to sound more like the album. I'd much rather watch Bobby's lessons than "Hey, it's M*rty!"
