HE wasn't a mountain of a man, but he bagged bodies on Omaha Beach watched most of his brother die, he was shot and frozen to a tree in WW2 and survived, came home built a farm and a family, he watched his wife die when his ticket should have been punched at least a couple times over. I didn't know him as well as many but I will always love and respect you Gramps. All these years later and my wife died in my arms, we have a passel of your great grands which by God's grace you met them all, and I just hope they follow our great King and that their children will someday look back and remember me in the same light as I see you.

Amen Brother, song reminds me of my Papaw, he wasn't a veteran of anything other than hard work and miles of it but it still reminds me of him. I joined the military eight years ago and moved away from home, its hard sometimes seeing my grandparents get older and my brothers not doing much to help them out. i just wish i could be there. but this song and others like it bring me home to the old farm.

This song was the first song to hit me in the feels. It inspired me to go ask my grandad what it was like in the early days of are ranch. He was adopted at a young age. He started guitar at 10 and played in a band at 11 he lives on are ranch in MT to this day. This song just hits me hard 😢 He showed me all the pictures of his past house (it burned down) so he picked up his tools and built his current house by himself. Too this day he still gets up at dawn and works to sundown.
