How should Black Performers combat the President-Elect?

November 2, 2019

“Harambe’s grandma, Josephine, has died.” Oh my Lawd, Are they gonna make a reality TV show now for the Harambes? Like the Kardashians? “So you don’t care about your son being shot and dragging a baby in the zoo?” “Look, look, I’m just tryna live here, in the Cincinnati Zoo, and mind my business, okay?” Alright so here’s the thing that’s goin on right now in the black community: “Chrisette Michele pens open letter defending inauguration performance.” And black people are TRIPPIN. Black Twitter’s goin in on her, “Don’t do it!” But why? Like, none of you motherf*ckers bought her album. She probably got bills to pay and don’t nobody know who she is, so it’s like, “Go ahead, girl, get that check.” But the way to save it, to save the black culture, and to let people know how we feel as a people, and even not black people, ALL the people, like, everybody that stands against Trump; I suggest a couple songs she should sing. She should sing YG, ‘F*ck Donald Trump,’ Nina Simone, ‘Old Jim Crow Laws,’ and James Brown, ‘Say It Loud.’ Bring on your own band and just start jammin, and then let the white people- the Republicans come on and say, “ALRIGHT, cut out that hooka booka baka jukku jukku STUFF!”

I'm so sad there's no inaugural poet this year, but it makes sense. No one wants to write poetry about such a shit topic.
