Former Poldark star, Eleanor Tomlinson, has revealed how she feared for her life in water scenes while filming her new series The War of the Worlds The actress, 27, said she struggled to move and had to be rescued by filming crew During a scene supposedly set in the ocean, Eleanor had to swim to the bottom of the swimming pool they were filming in However, the heavy weight of her Victorian era costume prevented her from reaching the water’s surface, and she feared she would drown Eleanor explained on this week’s The Jonathan Ross Show: “That costume when it gets wet, let me tell you, I was like a lead balloon and I just went completely down and ended up sitting on the bottom of the pool just waiting for this diving team to come and rescue me and thinking, ‘Oh gosh I think I might die here, this is quite strange’ “Then sure enough there they were.” READ MORE Poldark season 5: Aidan Turner talks final bedroom scenes with Demelza The War of the Worlds is an adaption of the science fiction novel of the same name by Victorian novelist H G Wells The novel explores ongoing conflict between humans and an extraterrestrial race. In the same interview, Eleanor said she believed aliens exist She said: “I think that we’d be foolish to think we’re the only life source and only life organisms on any planet in the whole universe “If you think about light years, imagine there must be planets that have the ability to harbour life that aren’t at this stage yet “And there must be planets that have had life on them.” Eleanor rose to fame as Captain Ross Poldark’s (played by Aidan Turner) love interest and then wife, Demelza, in the hit BBC historical drama She said that she would be open to a Poldark reunion sometime in the near future after it came to an emotional conclusion earlier this year She said: “The whole cast and crew on it were amazing, I will miss it a lot, but it’s time to do something else It’s exciting. It’s opened lots of doors. It will always have a very fond place in my heart Aidan is always off gallivanting around the world, so I haven’t caught up with him in ages but we are good mates You never say never…” She also revealed that she even kept her Poldark corset, as a badge of honour She explained: “I kept the corset from Poldark, just because it was so painful and I wanted to never have to wear it again but to own it and think ‘I got through it, I wore it every day ’ “Now I can eat a burger and chips and be able to enjoy as opposed to not be able to finish it I wouldn’t say no [to a reunion] we’ll see. It would be lovely to do a reunion, it would be amazing ” But perhaps most intriguingly she let on that she is actually not a natural redhead, but actually a blonde Trending READ MORE Poldark: Why is Poldark ending after season 5?
