Billie Eilish – I Love You // Guitar Tutorial (+TABS)

February 20, 2020

Hi guys and welcome to new guitar tutorial. In this video I’m going to show you how to play the rhythm guitar from the song I Love You by Billy Eilish. We’re going to start with the intro of
the song. And we’re going to put an FMaj7. We put the index finger on the 1st fret 6th string, Middle finger 2nd fret 3rd string and pinky finger on the 3rd fret 4th string. And the pattern on the right hand is that we start playing the thumb on the 6th string and the 2nd string with the middle finger. And after that we keep alternating: 4 with the thumb, 3 with index finger and 1 with the ring finger. And then 4, 3, 2 with the middle finger. 4, 3, 1… 4, 3, 2 And we just have to keep alternating these two patterns. Okay? and we just have to keep
alternating these two patterns. And after that chord we’re going to play
a CMaj7. We put the ring finger on the 3rd fret 5th string and the middle finger on the 2nd fret 4th string. And the right hand plays the same pattern that we played on the first chord. We start with the 5th and the 2nd at the same time and after that: 4, 3, 1… 4, 3, 2. Okay? And that’s the intro. But before we
start with the first chord in the intro we’re going to… when we have the chord,
we’re going to play the 4th string with the thumb, and the 3rd with the index finger. And after that we start with the chords. Ok? Do you get it? and that’s the intro. So we continue with the verse. And when we play the verse we just have to play the same chords that we played on the intro. And we have to repeat it four times. But when we come to the fourth time we’re going to end a little bit earlier. Like this: When we are on the second chord, the CMaj7, we play: Okay? We finish there. I play it one more
time. So that’s how we end the verse. And after the verse we come to a pre-chorus. And the pre-chorus is the most difficult
part of the song. We’re going to start playing an FMaj7. But this time instead of using the pinky finger as we did in the intro and the verse, we’re going to use the ring finger. And on the right hand we play the 6th string with the thumb and the 3rd with the middle finger. And after that we play 6, 4, 3 Using thumb, index finger, middle finger. Do you get it? After that we play 6, 4, 2 with the ring finger. And we have that 2nd string open. We play it two times. And then we play the 6th string, 4th and
we have to put the bar on the left hand. So we have to hold down all the strings
with the index finger. And we play at the 2nd string and the 6th. And after that we play: 6, 4, 2. Okay. So from the beginning of the
pre-chorus we get: I play it one more time. Okay. After that we’re going to add the
pinky finger to the 3rd fret on the 2nd string, And we continue with the pattern playing the 6th, 4th, 2nd And we play it two times. Okay. So there we have the Fmaj7 of the
pre-chorus. Then we change to a G and we’re going to
play like this: We keep the pinky finger there on the 3rd fret 2nd string, And we put the ring finger on the 3rd fret 6th string. And this time the fingers are going
to move to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings. And the thumb stays on the 6th string. And we start playing the 2nd string and the 6th at the same time. After that we play: 6, 3, 2. Then: 6, 3, 1. So we can lift the pinky
finger. We don’t need it anymore. We do it two times. Then we add the index finger
to the 1st fret on the 1st string. And we play at the same time the 1st
string and the 6th. So there we get a G7. And we play 6, 3, 1. So from the beginning of the G we get: And now we’re going to add the pinky finger to the 3rd fret on the 1st string. And we play it two times. Ok, so the whole G in the pre-chorus
sounds like this: Okay so now I’m going to play the whole
pre-chorus. Perfect. I play it one more time. And then we arrive to the chorus. And the
chorus is much easier. We’re going to start with an Am. We put the index finger on the 1st fret 2nd string, middle finger 2nd fret 4th string. And ring finger 2nd fret 3rd string. We start playing the 2nd string with the middle finger and the 5th with the thumb at the same time. And after that we play: 4, 3, 2. Okay? Then we lift the index finger on the
left hand, and we keep on the right hand playing the 4, 3, 2.
