October 27, 2019

[I’m] Bobby [crispy] This video is part of my guitar lesson series So today, I’ll show how to play back and Black by AC/dC So I’ll play the riffs then I’ll show how their plays note for note using tabs Okay, this is the first riff. It’s the opener Okay the first one it starts off as a power chord open e Then it’s a power chord D that’s up the fifth fret on the 5th string three times And an a power chord the sixth string fifth fret three times I’m just playing slowly and the little riff is this So that’s at the first string third fret pull off to open the second string third fret pull off the open And a third string second fret play it then [bend] up back down pull off open Then back to it to us Okay, the next part [is] this it’s the same Yeah, that’s played at the 5th string 2nd fret 6 string 4th fret after the 2nd fret there their string 5th fret 2nd fret sixth string 6 fret second fret top string seventh fret Okay, so the next part is this Okay, so the first part that you’re fair is That’s a power cord a top string fifth fret click option open Then beep awkward capturing some threat down the fifth fret back the sore throat seen a lot of times worse down here I Find it easier though to play that [V] [right] position up first so the top string The next part is this okay, so it lasts play twice Okay, next part is this Twice okay, that’s almost like a g chord bottom three strings eight part of a D chord for second and third strings and [eight] power Cord Top string 6 fret ended up top string third fret ended up in fifth string over so slowly Let’s play Twice It’s the G chord then at [D-Chord] three times Okay, I will get into the soil, but I’ll show part that’s old Yes, top string Played open fifth string sub threat top string open fifth string fifth fret top string open fourth string fourth fret Take that twice okay, then the solo throughout the soul the chords are just the opening [is] thrown A Okay, then the next riff is at 2:54 in the sonnet for the soul Okay, so that’s top string open fifth string fifth fret fourth second fourth option fourth Mr.. Inspector adoption fifth a second six touching second string Let’s play four times Then you [play] [the] exact same thing Starting on the a string they move everything down to string the robster Let’s played twice. It’s back to top string Okay, and it’s back into the second solo ensure the beginning. It’s like this Okay second string twelfth fret bend up and down third string 9th fret after seven tonight seventh fret both of the six six fred pause the fourth 12th fret the second and third strings both Bend the fourth string working thread [played] again Okay, the [sole] okay. In the intro, I am not sure the A and D power chords are played on the 5th fret of the 5th and 6th string. I think they are played at the second fret, besides where they sound more trebly. Same goes for the chorus, that when played with chords at the 2nd fret sounds better and involves less finger motion.

Chords are in the wrong positions.

  • Reply elmuan November 26, 2014 at 3:52 pm

Although the barre chords are the same chords, Angus plays them in open position with some muting using his palm. The way this man plays it is somewhat harder because you have to move your hand around the neck more. If you don't care about accuracy then this lesson is for you. Enjoy your day.

  • Reply Arm Cannon January 19, 2015 at 4:33 am

The important part is nailing the timing of the pentatonic lick.  The most common mistake is beginning on 3 when in fact it should be a 16th of a measure later.

    one – e – and – a – two – e – and – a – three – E – AND – A – FOUR – E – AND – A

  • Reply Cranio January 25, 2015 at 5:19 pm

I'm sorry but the chords are not in that position, and the lick at 2:23 is played with some little slides.

  • Reply angels77100 February 3, 2015 at 10:13 pm

I think Bobby more-or-less nailed it. Who cares if it isn't exactly how Angus plays it live. Nice tutorial,

  • Reply SICktONE September 26, 2016 at 5:45 pm

Use open D chord instead of barre for the rhythm.  It's how the Angus brothers play it and in order for it to sound full you NEED to ditch the barred D. Also the A-E-B bridge progression is played with open A and open E power chord instead of down the fretboard on the 5th.  Other than that the lesson looks good. Just ditching the barred D would be a huge improvement. You can hear the difference tonally in how the original is played.

as with most lessons on this song it's incorrect in many ways but this is a good starting point for beginners. I would say in that respect easier and cleaner to stick with open chords rather than all the barre chords for beginners

  • Reply Bob Williams November 6, 2017 at 11:26 am

I see some negative comments on here so all I have to say is ignore them. I don't see them trying to teach others for free. I've played guitar for 46 years and have taught untolled numbers of aspiring players, especially long before the Internet. Great job and thanks for contributing to the collective.

What string gauge are you using, I'm using 10-46 and find that bend too hard to pull off. Also the timing is 4/4, but it seems to have way more notes in a bar.
